As noted in a previous post, my husband and I are looking to buy a home.  When I sent my dad a spreadsheet on comps for different houses, he immediately called me up saying that I was insane to think that I WOULD BE PAYING 125 DOLLARS A MONTH FOR HOME INSURANCE.

He told me "budget for the maximum to be 80 dollars"  (his insurance in the all pricey Massachusetts is 40 dollars a month)

Long story short,  I just would like to thank Pattie for bringing this up today, could not have been more perfect timing....is there anyway I can get a link to that info?

Hala, you are welcome... a quick primer for those who might have missed it. Texas leads the country when it comes to homeowners insurance rate. Speculation points to the size of the state and the severe weather conditions we endure, but others argue, the rates should still be competitive.

A good source for info is always the Texas Dept. of Insurance... www.tdi.state.tx.us/. Check it out!
