I think there are other things that could have possibly made the 'breaking news' yellow banner located when you first open Fox26's home page.  Seeing the resignation of Fidel Castro is less than surprising.

It wouldn't even be surprising if he was dead--he is dead to most people...politically and physically.

No matter what schools do, those with the intent to inflict this much harm on others will do so no matter what the campus offers for security.  Don't get me wrong, it is important to have campus police, emergency protocols, and advanced means of communication.  But to 'breath easy' thinking that extra measures will stop anything from happening is just not practical.

I have been out of the blogging loop for a while...but it was all for a good reason.  My husband and I are enjoying the birth of our new baby girl, born July 13th, 2007.  Hopefully I will be coming back to blogging as soon as I get a schedule down..

I have an infection in my kidneys (the joys of pregnancy) and I have been in the hospital for two days... I am strapped to an IV and I have hated it, but I am glad that there has not been a cessation in news...or in blogging!

Since I am new to this state, I haven't really researched the good and the bad hospitals in the area, I just chose the closest one, Clear Lake Regional, the staff has been nothing but great to me...

But what are your opinions, where have you had the best/worst treatment? Moms, where is the best place to have your babies?

After all the buzz about a website featured on MyTechGuy's "Website of the Day" I decided to check it out.   Being 31 weeks pregnant (9 more weeks to go), I am not worried about losing weight, since I have not gained much so far.

But still, my curiosity sparked me to delve into this website.  The things that people say about their weight loss goals range from realistic to outrageous to JUST PLAIN SCARY.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for healthy living, even though people try to give me the excuse to "Eat for to" I keep my calorie intake and activities at the right pace.

However, many people on this site are delivering the wrong message to the rest of the members, let's look at an example.  A 30 something year old woman writes

"I am getting so huge, I can't wait to get back to 93 pounds" Now this woman is a mother of three kids, and currently weighs 135.

The sad part is, people encourage her!  "You are on fire! Congrats on your weight loss so far. :), another member writes.

So what do you think? Should these websites be regulated by counselor's?

Today on the morning news, it was reported that at risk students at some HISD schools are going to be given Blackberry's as an incentive to stay in school.

What are the requirements for this program, what GPA do they have to keep up? Behavior? What if they go over their minutes? What kind of responsibility is being taught to these students?

Unless the school system can think of a fool proof plan, in which these students will be using these electronic devices for all the right reasons--I think this is a horrible plan...Why do we constantly have to baby these students in order to get C's. That's all we ask, be average, show up to school, mind your own business... is that so hard...or will that only happen if we give them high-tech toys?

As per the segment on the morning show, the City of Houston has purchased a $36,000 dollar desk (half of which they claim was paid for by the Heritage Society).

This desk was claimed a necessity, since the security system is hooked up to it.  However, the security system had to be purchased seperatly?

It's unfortunate to think about how many people are struggling with paying taxes, while the City has no problem allotting money for frivolous purchases.

 Who okay's these purchases anyway?

Although I am a proponent of some of the issues that are fought by the ACLU, they never cease to amaze me when it comes time to fighting for things that should not and do not matter.

Let Indiana waive the $15 fee for the In God We Trust License plate...shouldn't Civil Liberties include the liberty to save money?

"The lawsuit filed in Marion Superior Court claims the state Bureau of Motor Vehicles gives preferential treatment to motorists wanting the plates, which also feature the American flag, because they don’t have to pay the $15 administrative fee that the agency collects on sales of most other Indiana specialty plates. "

As noted in a previous post, my husband and I are looking to buy a home.  When I sent my dad a spreadsheet on comps for different houses, he immediately called me up saying that I was insane to think that I WOULD BE PAYING 125 DOLLARS A MONTH FOR HOME INSURANCE.

He told me "budget for the maximum to be 80 dollars"  (his insurance in the all pricey Massachusetts is 40 dollars a month)

Long story short,  I just would like to thank Pattie for bringing this up today, could not have been more perfect timing....is there anyway I can get a link to that info?

Mike, I don't know if you, or anyone else for that matter has realized this:

You sound like the astronaut on the Time Warner commercials.

Here is an interesting point for discussion.  How much do you know about your spouse? I am not talking about past relationships or dirty laundry.  I am specifically talking about things like salary, passwords, social security number, etc?  If you do know these things, why do you feel that it is important to know? Do you want to know?  Are you going to close out of this blog and ask them these questions? Do you care?

Another interesting piece of information to post...if you do know all of this information, how long did it take you to acquire it?

Disclaimer: Any relationships that suffer as a result of this blog are NOT the responsibility of me or anyone else, I guess that includes FOX 26 also.

My husband and I are looking to buy a home. I found a nice one on Rosecroft street, I guess it is in the vicinity of MLK blvd.  My husband said it is not the best place to live, even though the agent said that the neighborhood is quiet.  What do you all think?

If you don't think we should further pursue that home, do any of the bloggers know of homes for sale (around 130k) ?
