There's an old saying valiant losers use to offer themselves consolation.

"I didn't lose....I just ran out of time."  Had Hillary Clinton held on to what was once a monster lead in Texas, the previously mentioned phrase could have easily been  used and used fairly by Barack Obama.

But turns out Barack WILL have enough time. Our Rassmussen poll indicates the Illinois Senator has caught the former first lady here in the Lone Star State.

Understand this, if Obama's run is truly an irresisistable force both Clinton's high-powered number crunchers and her politically astute husband ALREADY know it.

I've spent enough time with insiders on major campaigns to know - they often know - long before we do.

Watch the one-time frontrunner closely over the next couple of days - if she dons a grind-it-out fight to the finish game face, chances are she understands her fate and is already thinking about what, if anything, she needs to do next.

But if there's a prayer of a photo finish - she'll be spending every available resource to pull off a win, including a partial triumph in the funky Texas Caucus process.

Just my opinion. Blogs are great that way.

Hillary could sure use George Parr, in South Texas. A boss shrewd enough to scrape up enough voters, living and date, to off-set whats happening for Obama in the state's big cities.

Greg, do you think the superdelegates are the hidden unknown here? It is just scary to me that the people could want one candidate but these superdelegates, if the race is close, could actually choose the other person (in this case Clinton instead of Obama)? I'm curious who Obama will ask to be his vice-president. Do you think Hillary would accept a vice-presidential position if offered? I think picking Hillary as a vice-president would be a mistake.

Greg,

Common sense would dictate that she would see the writing on the wall by the end of April, but Hillary is one stubborn lady who may fight it out until the convention. If she does that, she'll be damaged goods as a senator.

Her campaign is toying with the idea of filing suit in Texas to challenge the primary. If she does that, Democrats will turn their backs on her when they see the impact of such an action.

Chassan;
I believe that she should question the entire primary process, in all fairness, not just in texas, but in states that have always been Reps and do not have large black communities, like the Dakotas, Utah, Colorado, pleez and when you look at the names of contributors to Obama.s campaign, like the Busche brothers in Colorado, the ex Enron criminals and on and on, it made me suspect, so I just voted none of the above! I will do the same in the general election, I will only vote for our legislators, judges and local. I do not like any of them.
I tell you another reason, and I am 71 years old, I do not like Obama, he talks too smooth, like a slickster on the street who will tell you what he think you want to hear..yuck. I am too old to fall for the okey doke!
I do not like Hillary, because I feel that she should not have even made an attempt this election to run for county dog catcher and not support some real candidates, like Richardson, Edwards and Biden! do not like the Reps period!

I do

Bluesqueen101,

Better to vote for the lesser evil than not vote at all.

Kudos to Bluesqueen101!!

Funny how some assume age indicates sinility, & with others it indicates wisdom!

Why is it better to vote for a semi-idiot rather than a total idiot, when both will destroy what is in place?
Not sure I agree with the philosophy that "if you don't vote, you have no reason to gripe"?

no, it is not better to vote for the lesser ofthe evil when both on the Dem ticket is no better that the other and the Rep, is a total joke. I respect his service and the suffering that he went through when he was a prisoner of war, but, I do not want more of Bushes policies. But I feel that the way I can maybe make a difference is to vote for legislative change not only in my city but in the state as well. I can always vote in November, if I so choose to select which ever one of the people that will be in the running at the time.

I don't need anyone to tell me how to vote, because I have been voting for a whole lot of years and observed the process for many years in many states, countries and localities. I am more concerned who will be our next crook DA and who will be taking over Cronyn' seat, because I am very happy to see him out-of-here. He doesn't even have the wherewithall to respond to messages sent to him through My Congress.com, Sheila and Kay Baily does, even if I don't like their response!

For as long as I can remember, all I've cared about is telling stories about Texans and what matters to them. These days that's pretty much all I do, so I guess I'm livin' the dream. Toss in 2 toddlers and a wife and my life is full to the brim. I'm greedy, I know there are great untold stories out there and I want them all. Help me do it.
