Pastor Rick Warren is President-elect Obama's choice to give the invocation at next month's inauguration.  The decision angers gay and lesbian groups because Warren opposes same sex marriage.  I've heard gay activists referring to Warren as "divisive."

The last I heard, Obama himself opposes gay marriage.  Is Obama "divisive?"  The vast majority of pastors, indeed, the overwhelming majority of Americans, don't believe in gay marriage.  Are they "divisive?"  In every state where same sex marriage has been placed on the ballot, it has lost.  Are the voters "divisive?"

Warren supported proposition 8, the California measure banning gay marriage in that state.  But a majority of African Americans and Hispanics voted for it and were crucial in passing the proposition.  When will gay activists start attacking those two groups?

Gay activists love attacking symbols. Warren is a symbol representing Christianity and the society that is tolerant, but not accepting of, everything gay.

I had a debate with a guy on the net concerning gay marriage. In his eyeview, gay marriage is an absolute right and he feels the US Supreme Court will see it as a 14th Amendment issue and tell all the states that they should be accepting of gay marriage.

I pointed out that for the past 15 years or so, the Supremes have felt that most issues are state issues, and even the First Circuit Court of Appeals, a very left leaning body based in San Francisco ruled it a state issue. He told me I was full of it when I told him he didn't have a legal leg to stand on.

Anyway, the recent Prop 8 issue in California was passed when 75% of the voting public had their say. If the turnout had been only 15% or so, I could see their beef, but it's obvious that most of the public does not want gay marriage, end, finale, fin, endo.

The gays had their day in the sun, and they lost, and they can't stand it. The protests started the day after the election. Hollywood is 100% behind the gays. Personally, I think Hollywood should be boycotted, but that's just one man's opinion.

What say you?

The gays need to get over themselves, and get off themselves. The world doesn't and won't ever rotate around them.

Dudester... if gay people were denied the right to marry people of the opposite sex, then the 14th amendment would apply. But I think most constitutional scholars would argue the amendment couldn't be used as a vehicle to re-define the concept of marriage. Even if a future supreme court ruled in favor of same sex marriage, the debate wouldn't end there. Such a ruling would trigger a huge movement to pass a constitutional amendment reaffirming marriage as a union between a man and a woman.

Wow--
Where these people "have a problem"--they can't understand that!
As quoted above, society does NOT (yet) recognize this abnormality, & since it is just that--they probably never will!
Where I recognize the right of a sick person to live as they choose in private--I will never accept the right to promote others to this lifestyle!
The latest numbers I saw on this was that this group compromised about 10-12%--
They had 25% in the voting in CA.--?

Where one can "try" & be accommodating, if something is truly repulsive--it is hard to accept--Perhaps?

Ford, of anything I have seen in the last few years, this is the clearest evidence that the issue of the acceptance of the homosexual agenda will be THE dividing issue in the coming years.

Here is where I get that: Warren, probably more than anyone in the evangelical camp (whatever that is these days), has attempted to be everything to everyone. He is helping with AIDS, hunger, the environment, etc. But, even with all of that "reaching out" to liberals, this one issue is enough to disqualify him. Notice that the NARAL/Pro-Abortion people are not complaining that an outspoken opponent of abortion is offering the invocation. All of this to say, homosexuality will be compared to a civil rights issue in the coming months and years, just like race, and the dividing line will be just as bright, and it will be just as aggressive and just as violent. (Its comparison to race is disingenuous, at best, however.)

Some are asking in the Christian community whether homosexuality will bring judgment on America. The answer to that is "No. Homosexuality IS the judgment." Romans 1 is chilling in its prediction of this over 2,000 years ago. http://www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?q=rom+1&src=esv.org>
On a personal note, I am very disappointed in Warren offering the invocation for the most pro-child killing politician in America today. This shows his profound lack of judgment and desire to please man, not God. But, it is not surprising given the watered-down message he teaches.

There is no constitutional right for anyone to marry. Marriage is deemed a privilege (imagine that!) and thus isn't covered under constitutional law.

Homosexuals are an annoying group badgering others for their abject perversions to be legitimized.

And now Gov. Jerry's Kids...er, Brown, wants Prop 8 overturned and, has even asked the California Supreme Court to reverse what the people just voted in.

Why even vote?

Obama opposes gay marriage, but full recognition of gay civil unions and the benefits companies may give those couples and the ability for partners to be with their loved ones in the hospital, etc.

"the ability for partners to be with their loved ones in the hospital"

This is one of the biggest lies in the whole thing. Obama loves saying this because it sounds so "reasonable." The problem is, it's not a problem. Partners would never be denied visitation at a hospital. I am sure there are "stories" floating around about this. But hospitals don't limit visits to spouses only.

Second, they won't be satisfied with civil unions. Actually, they won't be satisfied with marriage, either.

Read your Bibles, people. This was predicted 2,000 years ago by Paul.

Who cares about visits to hospitals. I'm bothered by actual insurance coverage of gay 'couples'. If one works and the other doesn't, the one that doesn't shouldn't be covered unless they pay for their own individual plan.

I'm not surprised at Puritanical's flatulent hatful rhetoric on gays as he is the most non-Christian and hearatic of all bloggers.
dirk...
In the past only relatives were allowed at the bed side of dying partners and that was stressfully inhumane to the surviving partner.

Understand this:
There are more sexual perverts per percentage in the so called straight" community"

Gays do not want to change laws, they just want to have equal rights when they find a partner of choice as you fond a partner of your choice.
Gays put more into the community in taxes as both normally work and work longer.
They should then get equal and same treatment and privileges.
Why ostracize a community for their privacy when it's NON of our business.

They never question ours !!!!
