To our FOX26 viewers/neighbors:

We are looking forward to celebrate two very important events in the history of KRIV/FOX26 News.

On Monday, August 18th, we'll be launching newscasts at 5:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

That same week, we'll be celebrating the station's 25th year of providing local news to our community.

We have a very diverse staff of talented people here. They are working hard to prepare for our new newscasts.

We want you to countdown to August 18th with us. So, over the next few weeks, you can share our blogs and photo galleries of behind the scenes preparation. There will also be a video or two that we think you'll enjoy.

Please come out and meet the anchors assigned to the new shows---Melinda Spaulding, Mike Barajas and Dr. Jim Siebert----as they attend our Back to School Back to Safety event at First Colony Mall. That's scheduled for August 16th from 10AM-6PM.

In addition to this blog, you'll be hearing more from "The big dog's Blog"....insight from the station's big boss.

So keep clicking and don't forget to tune in on August 18th. We think you'll find it a good use of YOUR time.

I am very excited to be able and bring the forecast to you at 5:00pm and 5:30pm...when quite often here in Houston we have storms moving through the area. Those showers tend to have a large impact on the commute home and I'll be able to tell you what parts of town can expect a longer commute...or a shorter one! I'm also looking forward to our "live" chat where I can interact with you while we're on the air. The countdown is on...

The countdown is on Dr. Jim... and we are very excited about "Liftoff." August 18th, we begin a monumental new event in the history of Fox.

We inaugurate our hour long newscast from 5:00 to 6:00 pm. We are excited and we hope you are too. "It's your time Houston." We want to be your newscast, your news team in the early evening. Especially at 5:30 when we will be the only station in town doing local news.

So let us know what you want Houston and tune in 8-18-08.

I trust Fox 26's news more than the other stations here in houston. For 11,13,and 2 its more like propoganda. Fox is laid back and people oriented with no stuffy reporter or anchors. Keep up the good work gang.

When will FOX26 start broadcasting their newscasts in HD? I usually watch the competitors only because their newscasts look so much better on my HDTV.

My girlfriend is a longtime & dedicated viewer. She has to watch the weather everynight @ 9:30. She loves it. News is recorded daily on the DVR, HOWEVER, we've began noticing there are so many "plugs" for the website..MyFOXHouston.com
...Please cut back on how many stories are completed by "checking out our website."
I prefer to watch the news & not hear about how many times I should go read it!!
