...it's been awhile since I've been to the corner sports store...so I decided to drop in for a bottle of anything...and...a glazed donut...to go...until I saw...

...I know it must be hard to realize...that...in the real world...McFly NEVER beats Biff...or Daddy in this case...NEVER!!!!...not that I would ever steer anyone to another website...as if you needed one...McFly has...once again...started on his "there is no I in team...but there is an M and an E..."...ME...ME...ME...ME...I told Mack Brown...I invented the I-formation...I taught Dream the dream shake...MY fifty years in high school football...I never go to the airport...unless it's a big story...and then I send Jr. Jr...rant...even if you are a big Kenny "I Like Dreaming" Nolan fan...I would like to leave a wake up call...WAKE UP!!!!!

...I've noticed that sometimes...when talking about a certain player...most people drop the "s" from the name of the team...for example...
...Miguel Tejada...Houston Astro...
...is that right!?!?!?...I mean...not for nothing...but...I thought the name of the team was...the Houston AstroS...or the Houston RocketS...or the Houston TexanS...or Houston AeroS...not that one of the players was an Aero...and...together they were the Aeros...
...I mean...we don't say...the red car is my Lotu....Mike Barajas is my favorite Baraja...I only eat at that particular Hooter...do we?!?!?
...I always thought it was supposed to be...Rafer Alston is my favorite Rockets player...point guard...whatever...
...I wasn't trying to bust on anyone...I'm just trying to see if there is a correct way of saying things...I mean...if Roger Clemens cloned himself...then...one of them would be the Rocket and together they would be the Rockets...but...does it work the other way around!?!??!

...much like the disgruntled school kid that picks up his ball and leaves the field...just because he is losing...the frenzied Aisle 2 went flatline...pretty much last week...but...the time of death...according to HTown...was on Friday...they didn't even come out for the fourth quarter!!!!!
...last week...McFly threw Kenny Jr. Jr. under the school bus...in a scramble to fill time...while McFly stayed in the customer NONservice booth...KJJ grabbed a North Shore official and asked him to comment on the victory...LIVE...as the game was STILL being played behind them...and the guy courteously answered..."I don't like to talk about a victory...BEFORE... the end of the game!"
...this week...the only frenzy in Aisle 2 was the way HTown left Berry Stadium...much like Aisle 2's commitment to items on the shelf...and missed an awesome second half comeback by Waller to tie the game...Dayton came back to win the game...but...not before the kids on the field gave the fans in the stands...and US...their money's worth...and more!!!!
...with the kids STILL leaving everything they've got on the field...how can you NOT be frenzied?!?!?...how can you just GIVE UP!?!?!?
...as Bo Levi Mitchell once said..."it's SIXTEEN games!"...not thirteen...too bad the blue light special on Aisle 2 has been turned off...AGAIN!!!!

...it's been said that...when someone tries to force his hype on others...and...starts to believe his own hype...he's been drinking his own Kool-Aid...well...someone in cyberspace is drowning in his own pool of Blogstown Kool-Aid...and...I believe the flavor is Hater-Aid...
...HELLO!!!!!....McFLY!!!!!!
...I did a quick check around most of the city's sports websites...so it's not scientific...BUT...I did notice...that...for the most part...everyone tries to put their best foot forward...then there is McFly...let's just say he knows what Reeboks taste like...
...for example...on Wednesday...McFly proclaimed that the KOOL-AIDers talked to most of the Rockets players except for Yao Ming who arrives on Thursday...well...EVERYBODY might could have a chance to talk to Yao Ming on Thursday...his first "day" back in the Houston/Austin area...Mark Berman had an interview with Yao Ming on WEDNESDAY night...in Houston...no spin doctor needed...ONLY ON FOX!!!!...as well as a one on one interview with Houston Texans Cedric Killings!!!!
...while McFly announced he had the best high school coverage in town...his camera left in a frenzy from Needville BEFORE the game was over...and missed an exciting double overtime game...we have postgame interviews and celebration on FOXHILITESHOUSTON.COM...AND...WE have Matt Sampsell giving you awesome highlites on Fridays...as well as introducing you to the Player of the Week on Sunday Xtra...not only great athletes...but...good people that let you know the "future" is in good hands...
...HELLO!!!!!...McFLY!!!!!...you must REALLY be thirsty!!!!!
...McFly claimed to have breakfast with "people in the know" during the Astros general manager search...yet...the night before the Astros called a press conference to announce the new general manager..."Scoop" Berman...not McFly...had it an interview with Ed Wade on MYFOXHOUSTON.COM...then...in the morning...Mark was the only one at Union Station to talk to Ed Wade BEFORE the afternoon press conference!!!!
...McFly says during the last Astros game he only saw one tv station person sitting in the press box with him...that's because the six man crew we sent to the Astros' game was working...talking to fans...recording Biggio's every movement...AND Mark even got a tv scoop on a Brad Ausmus offer from the Astros...you know...things you can't do while sipping Kool-Aid sitting alone in the press box...
...McFly insists that he is "in tight" at A&M and UT...yet...the day BEFORE this year's press junket...Coach Franchione granted an interview...one on one...with OUR Keith Calkins...AND...Keith was the ONLY reporter that was allowed to witness a grueling EIGHT HOUR kidney operation...12 hours in all that day...that gave UT's Carson Kainer a chance to play professional baseball...and his dad...Ron...also the donor...keeps Keith informed on Carson's progress up the MLB ladder!!!!
...I could go on and on...but...it would seem as if I was drinking from some kind of Kool-Aid also...so I'll stop here...too bad there isn't some kind of justice...you know...an umpire...referee...or...Marshall Dillon to keep everyone in check...until then...just pass on the Kool-Aid...

...you know...not for nothing...BUT...it's not like I didn't warn anybody or anything like that...
...allow me to back up...about a week...last Friday...Mark Berman talked to Jeff Van Gundy about being fired...and had quotes on FOX 26's website...so fast...that another television station...trying to play catch up...copied one...or TWO...of JVG's quotes...to get it on their website fast...they forgot to check...and credited KRIV as the source!!!!...I felt TOO bad to mention their call letters...but...you could CLICK TO them and see KRIV's call letters...
...fast forward to this week...again...Berman...with the quick draw...talked to Rashard Lewis' agent...who said..."he (Rashard) has decided to opt out and he'll be a free agent July 1st"...
...this time...another station...that starts with a K TRied Keeping up with Mark...well...they must have liked the story...AND the quote...so much...they quickly put up a story about the Seattle star...and credited KRIV...not once...not twice...but three times...talk about not knowing your ABC 1two3's of reporting!!!!
...the story even starts with mad props to FOX 26!!!!!

…one thing that I have been asked over and over again in my short tenure here…is…HOW DOES MARK BERMAN GET ALL THOSE SCOOPS?!?!?
..well…I don’t know…and…I’ve been here 24/7 for about a year…BUT…what I can tell you...is a funny story…
…on Friday…as the dust settled after the spring cleaning in the vast Rockets kingdom…while ALL the sports town criers were pushing to be the first…"hear ye, hear ye"…with something on “the Van Gundy guillotine” story…one place was even “borrowing” quotes from other sources and claiming them as their own!!!
...so…Berman decided to send…Matt Sampsell and Keith Jackson…Matt’s photographer…to San Antonio...to interview Jeff Van Gundy…in person…FOX 26 had the ONLY Houston crew in San Antonio!!!
…well…news traveled fast…and…affiliates of ours wanted to use the interview as well…we wanted to know just how many affiliates used KRIV’s stuff…so…we checked on the internet…and…GOOGLEd Van Gundy AND KRIV…and…came up with 511 DIFFERENT links using JVG quotes…OUR quotes….the quotes Mark got straight from JVG himself...cell to cell...probably has him on speed dial….see where I’m going with this?!?!?!
…two of the links were from television stations here in Houston…one…of course…was MYFOXHOUSTON.COM...and the other…you could click…well…I don’t want “TO” embarrass them…so…let’s just say…it was “TOO” bad!!!
…KRIV’s call letters showed up on a competitor’s website as a SOURCE!!!!!!
…as soon as one…or “TWO”…of the photographer’s from that station was made aware of that…it was QUICKLY removed…FOUR to FIVE hours after it was posted…
…the EXACT line was…and I QUOTE… “I was hopeful all the way up to last night they would change their mind,” Van Gundy told Houston television station KRIV…
…so…Mark’s scoops are so good…even the other guys have to use them!!!!!
…HOW DOES HE DO IT?!?!?!?…we may NEVER know…

…first of all…from the time you are young…you played the game of football…for the love of the game…Pop Warner…high school…and then…if you were good enough…you moved on to college…
…once you got to college…you noticed that some of the other players were…“padding their stats”…just to get noticed…so….you tried to do a little something extra…a little sexy…during your college career…so that “the team” scouts got to “check out” your talents…all in anticipation of that first date…DRAFT DAY…
…on Draft Day…you get presents…a team cap…a jersey with your name on it…$igning bonu$…you start to think…I will stay with “the team” forever!!!!…they like me…they really…REALLY…like me…
…”the team“ takes care of you…shows you a good time…so…you leave home…and…move closer to “the team”…and as you get to training camp…you realize…there will ALWAYS be other players that think they have just as much right to date “the team”…in your spot…usually…at least…two other players…an older…veteran player…who…at one time…may have had all the right moves to take “the team” away from you…but…can’t quite please “the team” for sixteen plus…if you get to playoffs…weeks…and the “other” rookie…not as talented as you are…but…VERY eager to please…
…at the end of camp…you are the chosen one…you get the promise ring…you move in with "the team"...you call your closest friends and show them the “spare keys to the apartment”…
…you win your first game at the controls…everything is great…”the team“ takes you out…you celebrate…this feeling can last a lifetime!!!!
…then…you lose a game…then…another…suddenly…”the team” is coming home later…staying at work a little longer…whispering on the phone…and…when you get near…”the team” says…”it’s just business…”
…you hear the gossip…”the team” has been seen with other players…and then…finally…”the team” parades it’s “new player” in front of you…BEFORE YOU’VE HAD A CHANCE TO MOVE OUT OF THE APARTMENT!!!!!
…ultimately you hear THE words from “the team“…”…it’s not you…it’s me…”…and…”…I wish you luck in the future…”…as you see a crew changing the locks of the apartment…
…yep…being a professional football player…must be like dating…

…I recently saw a report that said Craig Biggio was no longer allowed to wear his “Sunshine Kids” logo…you know…the organization that helps children with cancer…on his baseball cap during Spring Training….and the first thought that came to mind was…HORRIBLE!!!!
…I mean…don’t get me wrong…I understand the reason…it’s a “UNIFORM”…and…everyone needs to wear the same thing…BUT…I’ve known this guy for past ten years…and…Craig has bent over backwards for the Sunshine Kids organization…as well as baseball…don’t get me started with moving him to outfield…
…you know…it’s not like he’s selling advertising space on his uniform…it’s not like he is wearing a big button that says “HOOTER‘S”…or a sticker that says “VISIBLE CHANGES”…or patches that say “ROCKSTAR ENERGY DRINK” or “A.C. BAIL BONDSMAN”…it’s a little pin that may or may not get on a baseball card…that some kid trying to deal with cancer may or may not be able to see…which may or may not bring a smile to their face…while they may or may not be sitting all alone in a hospital bed…while they may or may not be waiting for another battery of tests…
…with the problems...in baseball...like steroids…franchise players leaving teams for the love of money…corked bats….retirement or not…blind umpires...small “jumbo” hotdogs…and $7 beer…it doesn’t seem that a small pin would be that big a deal…
