…first of all…let me “reach down…between my legs…and…ease the seat back”…so I can get comfortable as I write this blog…

“I heard the news baby”…that “got me so I can’t sleep at night”…now “I live my life…like…there’s no tomorrow”…I mean “I’m living at a…pace that kills”…but this news took me back to ‘78...13...when I was “a live wire…barely a beginner”…to a slower time...Los Angeles…you know…before “I found the simple life…ain’t so simple”…my first Van Halen concert…Dave…Eddie…Alex…Michael!!!!

…these guys became my idols of rock…guitar god...drum demon...bad boy bass...crazy singer...awesome stage show...you know “man needs a lot to live…and…I’m living proof”…I thought these guys would rock on forever…then…the break up…the Diamond Dave years…OVER “maybe enough…ain‘t enough…for you”…enter Sammy Hagar…and “I tell myself…only fools rush in”…BUT I already liked the Red Rocker…my collie is named Sammy…I should have “learned my lesson…baby…and…it left a scar”…Hagar years…OVER…not EVEN getting into the Cherone months…

“Hear it comes…that funny feeling…again”…Van Halen…on tour…again…the ability to see the Hall of Famers one more time…Dave…Eddie…Alex…and…er…Wolfy…not really a reunion…and…there isn’t a Houston date yet…BUT…given one more chance to see “Eruption”!?!?!...to feel 13 again...“aaaahhhh…THAT’S…what dreams…are made of!!!!!”

…I don’t know…that’s just me…

I can hardly wait for VH to come to Houston.
I've been a long time fan, but the last time they came with Diamond Dave at the helm, my boyfriend at the time, Scott Whitehead, said "Nice girls don't go to bands like Van Halen." Yeah, right. He just wanted to go with his boys and didn't have the juevos to tell me up front.
I went and saw them with my X when Sammy Hagar was the lead, but it wasn't Van Halen to me..it was Sammy Hagar WITH Van Halen. I love Sammy Hagar, don't get me wrong, but Diamond Dave was just too integral to Van Halen.
I'm hoping I can score some tickets...would love to see them. Although, I wonder how the crowd would be. My X went to see Rush last night, and while he said it was good and he enjoyed it, he laughed that it was a bunch of old people, sitting down, watching a bunch of old guys on stage.

Wonder if Diamond Dave can still "Jump" like he used to..or if, like Sampson, his agility was lost when he lost his hair?

I would love to see VH. I have always been a huge fan. Dave or Sammy? Loved them both!! I am just afraid that I would go and be thoroughly disappointed. There is no way he could have that same kind of energy. Have you seen Dave lately? He looks terrible. Now, Eddie is still hot! I have to face it...my rock idols get old, just like me....

...that's funny...

...yeah...I caught the Sam and Dave tour a few years back...and...I guess because both of them wanted to be the headliner...there was ALOT of energy in the show...

...as for the getting old part...if Mick and Keith can still bring it...I think Dave and Eddie have a chance...PLUS...Eddie has to keep up with his son this time around!!!!

It's good to see Diamond Dave back with the band, but it's still not the same without Michael Anthony. Like DLR said at the press conference, "This is not a reunion. This is a new band. ..."
And that it is. Van Halen just isn't Van Halen without the 4 original members. Just like Van Halen wasn't "Van Halen" when Sammy was with them.

It's too bad personal differences and egos got in the way.
It's funny, I remember when DLR "left the band" after the 1984 album and I thought to myself, "what an egotistical jerk" (I will admit, I did see DLR on some of his solo tours). But now when I think about it, perhaps EVH is the one to blame. First DLR, Sammy...twice for that matter, Gary and now Michael. Can't we all just get along.

But I like most true (old school) rock fans, am eager for the boys to make a run through Texas. Perhaps I should relive my youth and break out a bunch of Van Halen posters and plaster them all over my wall and camp out for tickets like I did when I was 15.

jhollywood..I heard that the main reason for the split behind VH, while pinned on Dave, was Eddie, but mostly was his missus. I read an interview with Valerie Bertinelli where she pretty much said that she and Dave fought over Eddie a lot before Dave left. She wanted her husband at home, (rightly so) instead of out doing the rock star partying like Dave thought Eddie should be doing. As beautiful as Valerie is/was, I know I would NOT want my husband running around with DLR..you saw the women who flocked around him!!
But it is peculiar that while DLR had a moderately successful solo career, Van Halen hasn't been able to rise to it's previous fame since Sammy left. No lead singer will stay with them. Wonder why? Maybe Eddie, after all.
As for whether or not Dave can still do the stunts..hey, if Jackie Chan can do it, why not Diamond Dave? :-)

...If they decide to have a concert anywhere near Houston...at least in Texas...I'll probably go!!!!...just like I would if Steve Perry went back to Journey...Stevie Ray Vaughan was able to play one more time...I guess that would be more of a news event...Led Zeppelin...Whitesnake...and...of course...the four original KISS members...oops...does that show my age!?!?!?
