The holiday season is clearly upon us which can mean a lot of different things, but one of many perks of this time of year is definitely the music. While I was in Houston last week for Thanksgiving I made sure to take advantage of Sunny 99.1's continuous Christmas music, and I have packed my iPod with some of my favorite Christmas songs.

Now everybody loves the traditional carols like Jingle Bells and Frosty the Snowman, as well as the moving/religious songs including Silent Night and O' Holy Night.  But I'm interested to find out what Houston's favorite Non-Traditional Holiday Songs are. A few of my favorites include:

1. All I Want for Christmas is You - Mariah Carey
2. Happy Christmas (War is Over) - John Lennon
3. What Christmas Means to Me - Stevie Wonder
4.  Do They Know It's Christmas? - Band Aid
5. The Chanukah Song - Adam Sandler

I'm interested to find out a few myfoxhouston bloggers favorites, as well as excited to get ideas about what else I can add to my playlist.

CaptainPlanet, I have a feeling that we have much of the same favorite Christmas songs in common, but my favorite non-traditional ones include All I Want for Christmas Is You by Vince Vance and the Valiants (different from the Mariah Carey version), Christmas in Hollis by my New York boys, Run D.M.C., and Please Come Home for Christmas by the Eagles first, later by Bon Jovi.

Sorry kenswife, I did not see you're blog or else I would not have done the same. I guess great minds think alike. What were some of you're favorites?

Please come Home for Christmas by the Eagles is definately one of my favorites too tripleg, and it as well as the Bon Jovi version are on my iPod.

One that I forgot to mention is Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney. So I guess my list inlcudes two holiday solo endevours by former members of The Beatles.

Agree with you CaptainPlanet, excellent choices. Tripleg and Kenswife had some great songs on their respective blogs and replies on the subject.

I like the Chipmunks Song, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, Spike Jones classic - All I Want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth, Blue Christmas by Elvis Presley

Thanks for the contribution Sassy11, I definitely agree with you on the Chipmunks Song, and I enjoy the other ones as well.
