Not unlike many preteen boys of my generation, I had a huge crush on Britney Spears; even to the point where I had her posters plastered on my walls. I watched her go through her sweet image, her risque phase, and then came the Chaotic period. She's had one and a half failed marriages ( the half is if you count her marriage to Jason Alexander (not the Seinfeld star)), she popped out two mini-K-Fed's, she shaved it all, and in the span of a week shes checked herself in and out of rehab about as many times as Bobby Brown has in his lifetime. For the last few years and more so the past months, she's been the punchline of countless jokes.

After all of this, It looks like Britney Spears is on her way to making a comeback. She's started to get in shape again, and she even went out and bought a new wig. The past few nights she's preformed 12 minute sets at the House Of Blues and tickets went for a much as $300 each. I must admit she's slowly starting to resemble her old self and I'm willing to give her a second chance, but she's going to need to record new songs and stop preforming Why Don't You Do Something...forever.

So the question is, does America (and more importantly do Houston music fans) have it in their heart to forgive Britney Spears? She wouldn't be the first fallen celebrity to make a remarkable comeback, but are you going to support hers? Or do you think that her apparent reemergence won't last? I guess it will all depend on how Lucky she is.

I never liked her to begin with. My sister was in love with her for the longest time, kindling my hate for this woman.

It seems it is the norm nowadays to become famous, date someone famous, take a well known famous drug and check into a famous rehab. That's all we hear about anymore. Isn't the any role models left in this world? My daughters have sure had some real losers to relate to. Where is the morals???

I never liked her. She has NO talent, and the ONLY reason she's a "star" is because she had the "look" to market. She's white trash, and always will be. What's the saying? Oh yeah, you can take the girl outta the trailer park, but you can't take the trailer park outta the girl!

With Britney the fact is she was a more talented singer when she was younger than when she became popular in 1999. I've seen video clips of her from her Louisiana days and Star Search and she was a talented 'tween'. I would say that the music written and produced for her does not make the best use of her voice, but at the same time, it is a crutch that allows her to be more of a dynamic stage performer. Presentation and performance are what she does best. Obviously her marriage was a poor decision, though at least her two children are blessings born from that situation. With the right production team, Britney can be a 'hitmaker' once again and go on tour again. Her music is one of my guilty pleasures and I do look forward to more.
D'Art, I would say that the next major young female pop star is JoJo. She already has about 4 hits under her belt at either 15 or 16 years old and she has the soulful voice to back her up. Her looks will be marketable, but I think she is following the right path so far.....Hilary Duff style (Houston native, by the way).

I couldn't agree with you more Triple G. I was thinking JoJo as well. She has the looks and then talent, I just hope she avoids the drug/alcohol abuse and the overdone promiscuity that most female pop stars fall into at one point or another. Well come to think of it, the promiscuity will be alright (by the time she is legal), but hopefully she will be closer to the next Beyonce and not the next Britney, Linday, Paris.

In addition to JoJo, I think the next big up and female pop sensation will be Vanessa Hudgens. She is best known for her role in Disney Channel's High School Musical, but she seems to be doing a good job at transitioning from Disney to MTV. She is very marketable.

Finally D'Art, the next "emerging diva pop queen" is without a doubt Jordin Sparks from American Idol. She has a great chance at winning this year, and regardless of whether she does or not, she has a bright future ahead of her.

I honestly think the upcoming pop divas will be Hilary Duff (native Houstonian) and Jordin Sparks. Hoping both young ladies will stay focused and on the right path. Britney is headed for doomsville. She needs to pull her "look" together and get out of the tailer trash clothing stores. At this point, she is losing it. Seriously in need of a strong recovery team to help her. She needs to upgrade her music and stop lip syncing. Agree with your thoughts CaptainPlanet. That last statement about Jordin Sparks - right on!

It's time for that hooka to retire. I think her career is OVA JEHOVA!

Trip, my daughter introduced me to Jojo about 3-4 years ago. I had no idea who she was, and I have to agree with you. She's a VERY talented young lady. We've had Hilary in the house for about that long, too. I just hope they don't get caught up in the whole "look like a Hollywood beanpole" thing....which reminds me, I saw a commercial with Leanne Rymes over the weekend, and I actually had to rewind it because I didn't recognize her. She looked HORRIBLE! Like a skeleton with skin. Sad.
