I went camping this past weekend at the Alabama Cashauta Indian campgrounds in Lake Livingston.  Wow....so cool.  Only $15.00 a night per campground.  You can put up to tents per reserved space.  Two large family size tents.  That included water and electricity.  A lake and swimming hole, bathrooms, showers and hiking trails.  The only downside was the million or so spiders that occompanied you to the bathroom.  Their were no spider webs in the woods...that was great.  They were the daddy-long-legs I use to see as a girlscout while camping.  They didnt bite.  That was one of the cheapest vacations I ever went on and we went with 20 or so peeps.  Three reserved spots in a row. $45.00/night for 20 peeps...good deal.  Has anyone been their before?  So cool.

I have not been here, but growing up we would always go to Brazos Bend State park and camp. Mom would reserve a cabin for, I think, $20 a night (back in the 80's). There we had to watch out for the gators. One time we heard about a little dog that was snapped up by a gator, while on its leash.

It sounds like fun, but I know that my husband will not do "outside".

We used to go to the Big Thicket Campground, I think it's called Chain Of Lakes now, when I was a little girl, and it was only minutes from the AC Reservation. I love it up there..it's beautiful.

We used to go camping on a little plot of land my father owned in Smithsville near Austin. This was about 26 years ago before the town expanded so much. It was great!

Thank you for the info on this place Bessie Lou. If I could get my wife and kids to agree...I'd love to check it out!

Foehammer, I'm not kidding. It was so cool. The friends I went with were like, yea...but so and so place is much better. But, for a girl whom never gets to go camping. It was too cool. I'm not a girly girl...I was raised with 15 sibs and always felt like I was in survivor mode. lol
