So I haven't been on in the past 16 days. Here's a new rant.

Currently listening to: The White Stripes - The Big Three Killed My Baby

I hear a lot of big fights over Mainstream (Music by people that are signed to a record label) and Inide (Not the right term, I'm sure, just the one I use. Anyway, music by people that aren't signed to a label.) I have a few thoughts on this.

Mainstream. Of course, we hear how it's all the same and what not. I have to agree to a degree. (This isn't going to be a rhyming poem, I promise.) Rock music today is really bland now. It came out of a golden age (IE the 90s) back when boring repetitive rap was ruling (It now rules with rock in most popular music. you see a few pop groups now and then, but they usually pair up with a rap star to get in some quick bucks)

CLT (Currently listening to): The White Stripes - Suzy Lee

Back then, I believe rock was better just because it was rare for it to be popular. The grunge scene died out and people were bored and hence the rap stars came forth, starting the revolution of the exact same song played over and over again. (I don't care what you say, 90% of rap today is just them singing about the same things and posing as the same thing. The rich pimp 'gangsta'.) Rock was struggling to remain 'popular' and so you got very few songs that got there and usually they were very good. Now it seems that it's all the same and just... Bland, as I said before. It's like one guitarist and one drummer all works to make all these albums. Of course, we still have few bands being original. The White Stripes, Manson, and Tool to name a few.

CLT: The White Stripes - Sugar Never Tasted So Good
(I have their first album playing right now.)

This pretty much means that in my opinion, a lot of indie lover's claims on "mainstream" music is true.

But then we get to indie. I've heard some and quite frankly, it's just awful. It seems like instead of fighting record labels, it seems like they just suck so much they can't actually get a deal going so they pout about it like 3 year old girls and "fight the power". Some of it is actually good, can't remember some of the band names but I've heard some that was good. (I had an "indie" internet radio station going. when it sucked I would change it for a while and come back and occasionally find a gem.)

CLT: TWS: Wasting My Time

So when it gets down to it, they're only wrong in small amounts.

So I obtained a White Stripes album. Elephant. It's amazing. Jack White is one of the best modern guitarists, Meg being the one of the best drummers. Not in technical skill but in how good they sound. (I don't care if you can hit 6 notes in a second, if it sounds like crap you suck.)

Go to YouTube and search for some of their stuff. They rock.

So I heard in the comercials there is a fund for the children of Chernobyl. I figured I'd show everyone what they're going through.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=cHgfA1WRdrc

It shows some children that have been mentally and phsyically disabled due to the huge radiation.

Chernobyl is basically the site of a nuclear reactor that exploded causing complete turmoil. Being near the building for too long unprotected can be about as lethel as a shotgun blast to the face.

Just watch on and you'll get the idea.

I am a huge gamer guy. I love games. It's like a temporary escape from reality. You can forget all the crap in your life and just play a game to get away from it, or to calm down so you can think about it. But today, it seems games have been failing.

RPGs- These are games like Final Fantasy. The best Final Fantasy game is Final Fantasy III/VI (In the US it's III but it was re-released twice for the Playstation a few years ago and the other time for the Nintendo DS this year. The only difference was the Playstation version had CGI (3D) cutscenes as opposed to the 2D cutscenes and the DS version used the touchscreen for some controls and minigames and it had some touched up 2D graphics and some re-mastered music. (FF6 had the best video game music. Go listen to it sometime.) And of course, Chrono Trigger is my second favorite RPG. It had the official cool-guy of all RPGs: Magus. This guy was a magic using powerhouse. He even used a sycthe. That is just awesome.
But now, RPGs are just dull. They all try to copy and do the exact same thing Final Fantasy games do. Hell, even Square-Enix, the company that makes them, has copied themselves. There's always a madman trying to completely destroy the world instead of just taking it over for his own gain, the main character or main character's best friend/love interest ALWAYS has amnesia of sorts and ends up coming from a family of super warriors or from a race of super warriors that have a special ability that can defeat the madman who has gotten himself involved with Gods to get supreme power. Usually the only original RPGs I've played didn't take billions of dollars to make, they took maybe $20 and weren't made by 100s of people, but small teams of 1-10 people. And of course, they're free and on the internet.

FPS- First Person Shooters. Aaah... They were never all that original to begin with. People are obsessed with one shooter called Halo which is alright in story, but the gameplay is awful and repititve. Half-Life is a real gem. (Half-Life 1 is better than Half-Life 2. And cheaper. Go get it.) You play a scientist who works at a secret facility in New Mexico. You work on an experiment and it goes horribley wrong. It opens up a portal so all sorts of creatures from the planet Xen can get in. You have to fight your way through the facility battling aliens and government troops that want to try to cover it up. I say it's better than the sequal because it's so terrifying. You are alone against an army of aliens save for a few people that help you (and usually don't follow you for long) and the whole world is against you it seems. The government won't help, they just want you dead as well. It's an epic game, go get it

Action/Adventure: These usually end up just copying Legend of Zelda. Sometimes you get some neat ones that are pretty original, but usually not. (Note: The Hobbit for the Gamecube is just a copy of LoZ. Don't get it.)

It seems today all original concepts have already been used. Everything is a copy of everything, or a ripoff of something, sometimes by pure coincedence. So I guess I just made this rant useless.

Oh well, a good way to waste 20 minutes.

Well, I'd figured I'd go ahead and write this up now. I put it here because there really isn't much of a section that fits better.

My name is Jacob. Last name with held, of course. I live in Highlands, Texas, the town you probably never heard of and only go to to get to the Wal Mart/Starbucks in Crosby. This tiny excuse of a town is full of pedophiles, murderers and drug dealers. (The first two I'm pretty sure of, the last one I'm positive of due to there being a crackhouse down the street I live in. One of my friend's dads used to live there before he got clean.) I am a music person. Music is the most important thing in my life. I am an avid fan of Peaches, Marilyn Manson and White Zombie. Yes, that's right, the same Marilyn Manson I'm sure half of the believe sacrifices animals on stage. (Honestly, if he really did that, don't you think he would be in jail now due to animal cruelty?) I occasionally like to write small stories which none of you will ever read unless I trust you not to call me a nerd.

I just joined here because I watch Fox every morning before school. Just to get the weather (I walk to school, and occasionally have to walk from it. No biggie, just a 15 minute walk. I could use the exersise.) And of course to get some of the going-ons around the area.

Hope to make some friends and blow some minds.

Me? Well, I'm a crazy mother-father with ADHD that can say things about 1 in a 100 people could understand, unless I explained it to them. And heck, I'm too lazy to do that.
