The Billy Joel, Song "Only the Good Die Young" includes a line, 'I'd rather laugh with the sinners than cry with the saints, sinners are much more fun.'

But, I am here to tell you, if a person's faith is true, they won't be walking around crying and grumbling.  They will be filled with joy and fun, as well as being interesting, even when their circumstances appear bleak.

Oh, they might cry at times, if something really hurts.  They might be sad and depressed at times, if some cruel fate has befallen them.  But, once they find their focus again on their faith, the joy will spring up again.

The only way you might not think they are fun would be if your idea of fun centers around going to excesses, getting drunk or drugged out, being mean or even cruel, or being involved in debauchery and promiscuity . . . reveling, as they say.

Can the Word of God be trusted?  I have found it so.  I am a far cry from perfect, but:

I am Holy, as "Holy" is defined: "To be Dedicated to God."
I am a Saint, as "Saint" is defined as "S
omeone who is sanctified by God's blessing, and designated to go to heaven after death."
I am a Sanctified, as "Sanctified" is defined as
"Someone whose sin is forgiven through faith by the grace of God."
I am a Disciple, as "Disciple" is defined as "A student of a particular Master."
I am an Apostle, as "Apostle" is defined as "An Envoy; someone who is commisioned to go forth with a Message

Jesus said, "You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain:"  (John 15:16)

BUT, (and here's the kicker); I am no more than you would be if you would believe and pursue the calling with diligent dedication.

For all of us have become like one who is unclean,
And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;
And all of us wither like a leaf,
And our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.
-- (Isaiah 64:6)

Come now, and let us reason together, saith YHWH:
T
hough your sins be as scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they be red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.
If you are willing and obedient,
You shall eat the good of the land:
-- (Isaiah 1:18)

I kinda riding the fence know sir...
I think I'm gonna wait until I'm thirty and married before the no holds bar dedication.
I still have a couple of years to revel in promiscuity, debauchery and a beer or two.
Then I can truly be saved. I don't mean to break hearts, they just become extremely fragile around me for some reason...^ -^
I am disgusted at how easy it has become, is the youth really that lost now? They respect violence more than wisdom.

I believe that to be a truly transparent statement.  For the HONESTY, I commend you.

Just know this, and I won't preach (I am not a preacher, after all . . . just a commited layman.)  There is nothing in the World to guarantee you a Tomorrow.  Every morning you rise from sleep may be your last.

Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to Jehovah, and He will have compassion on him; And to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.
--  (Isaiah 55:6-7)

I lived that song until I was twenty. I believed the lie that being Christian meant being straight-laced, sober, and sad. Then, when I encountered Christ, I experienced a fullness and meaning in life, in addition to unexplainable joy, that has transformed me even until this day.

Oh, and by the way, Jesus enjoyed a good meal, and wine, to the extent the religious leadership derisively called Him a "winebibber and a glutton."
I can assure you the wine he drank had an aclohol content, since there was no other way to keep grape juice without refrigeration.  Those arrogant "teatotalers" lie!

"The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber (drunkard) , a friend of publicans (tax collectors) and sinners.' But wisdom is justified of her children."

Are you not a few decades too late to be picking on that song...my goodness don't you have anything better to do ?

YOU MOTHER!!  I'm not picking on that song, but it seemed a perfect segway.

Besides, as a mother, you should obviously want what is best for your children.  Would you defend the debauchery and promiscuity which that song promotes?

I mean,
"
Come out Virginia, don't let me wait
You Catholic girls start much too late
Ah, but sooner or later it comes down to fate
I might as well, will be the one."

Is there something evil about saving yourself for the person you hope will be a life partner?  If the first attempt at marriage fails, then go ahead and be an anybody's if you want to.  But, don't start out that way.

Or, are you one of those desperate housewives, who is out trolling the neighborhood as soon as your husband leaves for work?

Taken to heart ark...but remember sir, I do it with class, something the youth lacks as much as respect.
I keep it real. Real as the message commissioned.
I won't lose sight of the big picture.
I think I got potential...^ -^

Been there . . . done that . . . no longer proud of it . . . will never wear the tee-shirt again.

It turned out to be self destructive for me.
That's one reason I post these types of threads.

Can we reach the youth without acknowledging their current environment?
I think I need to infiltrate to set the example, be the role model in the situation at hand, ya digg?
I am not proud of some situations I have been put in by others, I am proud of my decisions though.
The light I brought into the darkness. I believe there is good in everyone, a persons potential can be changed in the blink of an eye, some need to be shown...srry tangent.

There is the knowledge of good in all, and the knowledge of evil. If sin was not fun, no one would do it. Trouble is, it is addictive, regardless of what some idiots say, that "it is only addictive to the weak minded."
They KNOW they are lying when they say it.
