Are you kidding me....are we this touchy and wussified that this offends someone?

This is a complete joke that this company had to take this harmless toy off the market.

Does this offend anyone?

If so...Grow up and grow a backbone!

You have to keep in mind the historical racial slurs, insults and comparisons when dealing with situations such as this.

Tell me...you don't think that someone would not be offended if a Saltine cracker was dressed in a suit with a receeding hairline and a political button on his jacket was presented for sale?

I would not be offended if it were any other animal. But monkeys were used as comparisons with African Americans for some time. And, sad to say, is still used by some even today.

I have a pretty tough skin and know this was not the intent of the company...I do understand the history of it all...but it is all HISTORY...

And if you look at my pictures...i have a saltine cracker on there....

I feel people want racism gone but bring it up any chance they get....

WE WILL GET NO WHERE WITH THIS!!!

Foehammer...were you offended?

Now see... this is what I have a problem with. With this toy aside, I have to take into consideration all that I hear, all the time. "Don't be stereotyping. Not ALL blacks are like that", etc, etc. Well, this toy had nothing to do with any other black person other than the half-white Obama, so why would anyone who doesn't want to be grouped in with the average stereotype, be offended by something that wasn't aimed at them???? Like I said before.. I didn't hear anyone crying foul when they made a collage out of GWB and curious George. Like Apollonian said, it's history. You can't do anything about yesterday, or tomorrow. Just be happy for today, and don't worry, there'll be plenty of things to come your way for you to be personally offended by. You know, you CAN choose to not be offended.
Remember, life is a two way street. You can't look the other way when the shoe is on the other foot, and one from your race is bashing one from mine, then get all upity when someone from my race bashes someone from yours.

Everyone is entitiled to their own opinions and its how you act to those opinions that shows your true character...I think that the maker of this toy knew exactly what he/she was doing. What kind of example does this doll set for our children. I am glad they took it iff.

I have to say that I was not personally offended. But on the same token...I would understand anyone who said that they were.

There is a thin line here...a tightrope made from a single strand of hair.

I am just your normal kilt wearing Texans fan. Texan born and proud of it. I have varied opinions about many issues, as you might have already read. I do like a great discussion, some would call arguements...you say tomatoe, I say tomato. Be happy while you're living, for you're a long time dead.
