Being invited to play in the Shrine game in my home stadium was a great experience. I was humbled by the children we met when we visited the Shriners hospital.

I talked much more than normal during the game because I was mic'd up. I tried to use the opportunity to entertain the Shriner children and the fans while showcasing my skills.

Scoring my final touchdown as a college player in Robertson Stadium as a player in the Shrine game will always be special.

Anyone else have a special memory from their final semester in high school or college?

Anthony - I'm skipping the memory to tell you I covered the Shrine Game - and you were incredibly impressive, so I'm glad you have fond memories of it. :)

I was following Calder, the precious little 2-year old who got to be on the field during the coin toss - but lost both of his legs to an amputation b/c of birth defects.

That game really brought him a lot of happiness (me too!)

Anthony, if only I had a similar great memory. My memories from college were Phi Slama Jama! Ah, the days of Hakeem, Michael Young, Reid Gettys, etc.

It was great hearing what an impact the game had on you, as well as the children from Shriners. The facility is awesome.

Thanks so much for your blog!

Hey Quick,

First off, let me thank you for all the hard work and all the explosive plays you put into being a UH Cougar. Even the games we were down, I knew we could come back with the way you can run. You're a great guy and a great representative of our great University.

My last memory as a student at UH was when the men's basketball team beat Arizona in 2005. It was the last day of classes for me and I'll never forget it. I always wanted to rush the field or court before I graduated, and I got that chance. And, thanks to you and the rest of the football team, I got to rush the field as an alum after you guys beat down Southern Miss in the C-USA conference championship game.

We'll all miss you and I hope to see you playing on Sundays. God Bless.

Quick,

Your the shizzle.

Now come play for the Houston Texans.

Favorite memory as an athlete? Anchoring the 4x4 as a Junior to upset Cy Falls for a trip to regionals.

Cheers bud and throw the Shocker.

(BTW dude, you signed a recent program for me that made me and my pops day [pops is long-time UH alum].

I was the one who begged Oumama to do it. I'll cherish that thing bro. Thanks. )

Quick it has been a pleasure following your career at the University of Houston as well as seeing you mature as a person. I hope we will continue to see you through the years on campus and being a big part of the program. You will always be considered part of the Cougar family.
I will be pulling for you to make the league and follow your dreams as an athlete but I know you will be successful in life no matter which direction you take. You are much more than just an athlete.

As for special memories at Uof H they are abundant. In football I still remember the days in the late 80's when we domintated ut, but I really remember two games in particular, one against ut and the other aginst A&M in the Dome. In the game against ut we won 60-40 and had I think 5 ints.CB Johnny Jackson broke an NCAA record that night by returning three of them for TDs.
The other was a great come from behind win against A&M when Chuck Weatherspoon single handily shreaded the vaunted A&M defense on the final drive of the game as we won by a point or two at the end.

In basketball I will never forget the SWC tournamant championship game played at the old Summit against Arkansas. Of course the Cougar team was ranked #1 in the country and Ark. had a top 5-10 team as well and we had already beaten them twice. The Summit was full and rocken, about half and half of Cougar/Hog fans. The game came down to the wire as three tip attempts in the last few seconds all fell shy and we walked away with a 3rd win over Ark.

Outside of that, the day I graduated with a degree from the University of Houston.

Quick, I hope someday you'll get a chance to see a young man who represents his school and the community with the poise, respect and decorum that we UH fans and alum have been able to these past few years. Your are an amazing inspiration and truely one of the greatest representatives this school has seen in many years. We'll miss you on the field at the Rob, but look forward to seeing you in the NFL.....GoodLuck pardner!

Anthony,
Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to our beloved university.

My coolest memory from your playing days was the night we beat Ok State. I was one of many Coogs on the field that night after the game had ended. It was awesome. Next thing I know the band starts playing and I am right there next to you (the almighty Quickness), some of the other players, coaches, and fellow Coogs signing our school song. That was a great memory.

Good luck on all of your future endeavors and keep the Cougar family posted!
