"YOU MAY ALL GO TO HELL AND I WILL GO TO TEXAS"

                                                   * * *     DAVID CROCKETT    *  *  *

REMEMBER THE ALAMO - OR WAS IT A WASTE OF TIME AND LIVES???

We spent July 4th  holiday weekend in "The Texas Capital "

It took a whole day to go over the Capital Building, following all the tour groups and finally the wonderful very reasonably priced cafeteria where the food was excellent. The tour etc. was free.

My thoughts were, if only we had a rail system from Houston to Austin, more Texans would take the week end and visit our Capital and know more of what goes on and learn about our wonderful history.

A rail system would also encourage school groups on day trips to visit the Capital and be more enlightened about how and why we now exist and the reasoning for our social structure and how Texas Legislative and the whole government works. (and less time watching wasteful T.V. and computer games and corrupt porno sites).

Why do we lag so much behind other States and other countries who have wonderful rail systems to get from one place to another.

Perhaps a little persuasion with each of us emailing / phoning our local representatives would help to get some attention.

Silence does nothing -    any blogger interested????

That's a good idea! I like that you are being proactive with it instead of just complaining and not doing anything! If we all did that there would be peace brought to some of the even bigger issues we face in America today! Count me in!

I am a big letter writer and I like this idea. I think it would need to be a high-speed train, though, because if it goes 60 mph, it will take the kids 3-4 hours up and 3-4 hours back -- not too much of a day trip. We should look at some of the trains in Europe that are going 200 mph. That would get them there in an hour. I would absolutely love that.

Lauren... Thanks for looking in. I can't say I've seen you blog much.- You must be a reader.

However, being complacent does not work to get things done.
Complain, complain, complain is the motto and finally someone listens.

The people (tax payers) will never see a Rail System which should override any widening or additions to polluted freeways all the time we appoint a Mayor with construction interests.
Perhaps with the exception of our present Mayor

The "Yellow Cab Company" controlled the Airport routes. We could have had a rail system from City to each Airport but for a Legislator who will one day inherit the Yellow Cab Co.
they were successful in ousting the cheap shuttle bus to get to the Airports.
We now have to use a taxi at twice the price.
When she lost to Martha Wong nothing changed except for having chicken scratch translated road signs around the Down Town Convention Center and Bellaire.

Yes this is complaining but it bring to light what I call the corruption within our society.

PBMom ..You are my idol with all the personal problems and yes I was thinking of an associate of mine who tried to promote 1hr.Silver Bullet train but that was to only to Dallas.
He failed - can you guess why. (The Airways)

You are so right on target always with your innovative and forward thinking. Always enjoy that about your subjects 4Justice. Agree with you, a high speed rail and proactiveness is in order.

Thinking of Crockett's quote just yesterday. Wow it was a surprise to my eyes to open this one today. Gotta love it!

I'll have to do sme research on the fuel methods. I know a recent one they built is based on magnets. You would think that Europe, with all its multiple different countries and different types of government would have difficulty getting things done, but it seems they get more things done than our squabbling. If we stop lobbying, then the airlines won't be able to control a politician's vote, or any other lobby other than its private citizens.

Do you know the autism legislature that passed this yes to cover kids 3-5 with insurance for their autism including behavioral therapy took 7 years to make a reality. That's the long-haul. But what I learned about that is you have to talk in their language. You have to make it appealing to them. With the insurance thing, it was appealing to them to find out how much money it would save the state in the long run versus the $1.00 hike in premiums the insurance board was saying it would cost to get this covered. So we have to find an angle they will get on board with (no pun intended).

Yes, I just discovered this blog and become a member the same day. Bear with me, I'm new at this...

Simply complaining is not enough. If all lot of people complain someone will notice, but that's it. That's why I admire what you said because you had a complaint but with it you brought a solution.

It's kind of like why fight the system from the outside when you can educate yourself on the inside, work your way up and really make a difference.

Actions speak louder than words. If you want it, make it happen!

Welcome Lauren!! Fox 26 bloggers are VERY proactive people. Check out what moved Passionatedragon to make a difference after a story aired on Fox 26. I'm trying to get the people in charge of the blogger picnic on July 21 to say everyone should bring a fan or a door lock for Passionatedragon's cause. Then we can socialize AND benefit someone else both at the same time.

Within the last two decades, the money spent on widening and extending the freeways, Toll roads etc. we could have had a "Rail System" to and from the Airports with a mind on linking the towns and Cities.

However, we chose to elect Mayors whose only interest was in the construction business.
Many contracts became a fraudulent waste of tax payers money on contracting jobs to irresponsible and poorly managed companies who took on more than they could chew.

Many being newly formed minority groups who are supported due to their inability to progress a business through the old ways of earning a reputation.
