Cell phone MIS- USED in Banks, Post Offices, Movies, Weddings, Classrooms and more.

Driving has become a hazard through the lack of concentration using cell phones and increased  road rage is a result of it.

Many Countries are now using jammer systems which come the size of a cell phone, battery operated and cover a range from 30 feet to over half a mile to block the use in certain areas.

France and India have devised jammers that let emergency vehicles go through while blocking other signals.

Corporations use Jammers to stop corporate espionage by blocking voice transmissions.

American Law see the blocking of a cell phone as "Property Theft" and the first offenders use is $11,000 fine or 1 year.  I call it    "Blocking a Nuisance."

When President Bush visited London in Nov.2004, it was reported that British Police used jammers to protect the president's motorcade through London.

Can someone tell me why our troops in Iraq are not supplies with Jammers to protect convoys.????

Most I.E.D's that explode are triggered by ordinary cell phones and Jammers would block the signal and we'd suffer less casualties.

Folks !!!     This may well work or is it another "DON'T SHOOT UNLESS YOUR SHOT AT"

4Justice: The real question is why don't our troops have Cougars (IED proof vehicles). Since we invaded Iraq, only 100 of them are in use. So much for "supporting our troops." We could have created jobs here in the US for people to make these vehicles and pump them out like we did airplanes in WW II. Since they were employed for usage, there have been no casualties related to IED with these vehicles.

This device sounds great. We should insist on this. Sounds like a much cheaper alternative to Cougars. We'll see what that insisting gets for our troops

Here's the problem, You may accidently block the signal of someone on our side that needs to get a message out. Besides, and I'm not saying this is better, but you take away that way of setting off a bomb they may go back to what the VC did, using children as the bomb cause they are playing on the emotions and moral of Americans.
many Americans died when children were sent in with bombs strapped to their chest cause Americans didn't want to shoot a kid. That's a job I would not want but I am one of the few who would do it without a second thought. You don't have many of them in Iraq today.

Snoopy: I read a story last night about a kid who had a bomb strapped to him in Afghanistan. I think I'll post about it later.

Okay, I knew someone who had to do that and he was never the same, he use to have nightmares about it. He had a flashback dream of it and I guess of what he would have done different and he nearly chocked me to death. He was sleep walking.

Writing_WP .. Just (read) my blog.
If France and India can devise Jammers, then surely the U.S.can. Well, (I'm beginning to wonder)since we lag so much behind IT

Keep the Politicians from interfering with the things they know nothing (which is most)and let the Military do its job.
We are constantly having maybeeeees and what iffs.
Let the Military do the job and stop the carnage of both our boys and the civilians.

See you will have too many cooks in the kitchen as is with anything new in the US. That's the sad fact of it. I did read the blog and it would be great IF it would work ike it's suppose to and you KNOW darn well that the big fat money pig will not allow that.

I read an article about this in Time or Newsweek the other day. We are using jammers but they can me circumvented by using different frequencies. They had an interview with an IED maker and he said he was able to figure out how to defeat one overnight. This problem is as old as warfare. One side will come up with an innovation and eventually the other side will come up with a counter measure. No technological advantage lasts for ever. Sometimes the side that wins is the side that develops and fields a new technology or new tactic the fastest.
