I guess it's getting easier to get personalized license plates in Texas.  Looks like there are a lot more choices too!

So if someone gave you plates as a gift, what would you have them say?

Harris County and Judge Emmett have put up several billboards around town reminding everyone to prepare for Hurricane Season.

What do you think about them?

Here is the link to a FOXRAD Hurricane Briefing where I talk about them.

I saw an article about a guy arrested for doing a motorcycle wheelie.  -Click here for the story-
I have to admit, as long as it is on the open road, not close to other vehicles, I like to watch these guys.  Just this past week, I saw a guy standing on his motorcycle zipping down the Gulf Freeway.
I'm not saying it is very smart, but it's cool to watch.
What do you think?

These little guys are supposed to get pretty good gas mileage, but can run pretty good at freeway speeds too.

I had to work just to keep up with this guy zipping through Houston traffic.  We were not flying or anything, but we were running at posted speeds.
Where can I get one?

I enjoy spotting out-of-state license plates.  My favorite game when driving on a road trip is counting the number of different state’s plates.  But, I have never seen a plate from Hawaii, until today.
Today during my commute to work, on the Gulf Freeway, just inside the Loop was a black Dodge Nitro with a license plate from Hawaii.
Now, explain to me how a vehicle, which I must assume is registered in the islands of Hawaii, gets to the roadways of Houston, Texas?

Have you heard of this?

Painting 3D objects on the roads to look like speed bumps.  Supposed to slow down drivers.
Generally speaking, I don't think it's a good idea to trick drivers.  They have enough distractions as it is.  Do we really want to try and confuse them more?
I have not heard of this in Houston yet.  Our story in the Sunday 9pm News said it was being tried in Philadelphia.  100 intersections!

I’m trying an experiment.
I’m going to drive 55mph or less for an entire tank of gas to see how much better gas mileage I get.  I’ve got a yellow sticky note to help remind me.

Don’t worry.  I’ll be in the right lane and try not to get in everyone’s way.  Please forgive me if I’m a little late.  It takes a lot longer to get around Houston driving only 55.
I’ve done this little experiment years ago with a different vehicle and saw an improvement of 8 miles per gallon.  Back then gas was cheap and it was no big deal.  Things might be different now.  Would you drive slower in order to save money on gas?

Quick-
Name 6 parts of a car that start with the letter "S".

This is something I read on the back of a Happy Meal sack.  It said the answers were on the bottom of the bag, but I forgot to look.  So I guess you will have to check your own answers.

Ok South Freeway commuters, I need your help with this one.

I was headed to the Pearland Bass Pro Shops last week and ran into these guys.  Anyone know why they are sitting on the side of 288?  I tried going to the website listed on the sign next to them, but got very little info.

Can you name all the figures?

I’m never excited about a Monday morning commute but I can’t believe how easy the drive into work was this morning.  I’m a Gulf Freeway commuter and things went so well.  There were a lot of us on the road, but things kept moving and everyone played nice.

I had to double-check that it was not Sunday or something.

I've been enjoying a 2:30am commute this week as I've worked the morning show.  Here's what I've seen...

Slow drivers in the fast lane.

Distracted cell phone drivers.

Cars with non-working blinkers, or at least not being used.

I will say overall there are less cars on the road but the quality of driving seems to be the same as during the daylight hours.

Do you think it's any safer on the roads at night?

Here’s what I found in my tire yesterday.  Not the penny, it’s just there for reference.  Needless to say, the tire was not much good.  It was time anyway, so I ended up replacing all four tires.  I HATE BUYING TIRES.

Most of the time I buy the cheap stuff, but tires are too important to not buy quality.  If I’m going to spend that much money on anything, I want to get some enjoyment or some kind of satisfaction.
