Here are a few of the pics from Rescue Flight's Kid's Aviation & Sports Day.

#44 Vonta Leach

JD, Candy, Robert, Ashley

This was another fantastic event put on by Rescue Flight.  There were lots of aircraft to look at and it was fun to meet some folks with the Texans.  I hope this becomes an annual event.

I'm not totally up-to-date on my WWE trivia, but apparently several of their superstars – United States Champion Shelton Benjamin, MVP, Carlito and Shad of the tag team Cryme Tyme - call Houston home.

On Wednesday,
WWE tried to do its share to help its Houston fans deal with the aftermath of  Hurricane Ike.  More than 900 Houston residents affected by the disaster were given food and necessities at Impact Houston, a Houston Food Bank member agency.  The supplies where purchased by WWE and distributed by such stars as John Morrison, The Miz, Funaki, and WWE Diva Layla.

Unbelievable!

Can this really be true?

Not so long ago, I thought 50 was old.

I've been watching the Olympics with my 5 year old son this year.

He does not get to see a lot of commercial TV.  He normally just gets to watch PBS and our collection of  DVDs.  I think he enjoys the commercials as much as the events.

His 2 favorites are the Wii commercial with the man and kid racing around the house and the Chevron commercials with the gas pumps that play tricks on the drivers.

The Children’s Museum of Houston is bringing Discovery Center back to Sugar Land Town Square. Sounds like a great indoor activity for the family. I’m all for outdoor fun but sometimes here in Houston you have to take the kids indoors and cool down.
This is only a six week venture so make this a great start to summer. I did not visit last year but from what I have read, they will utilize the store space located in the corner of City Walk and Lone Star Drive, across from Z Gallerie in Sugar Land Town Square.
The Museum will be open from June 6 – July 18, seven days a week.
10am – 5pm, Monday through Saturday
Noon – 5pm, Sunday

I’m a big fan of the Children’s Museum. Everything they do is great! Here is a link to the Discovery Center information on their website.

Fox is trying something new this fall with 2 of its new shows: half the commercials. When you tune-in for Fringe and Dollhouse there will be half the commercial and network promos. They're calling it an experiment. Do you think it will work?  Will you put down the remote?

Last week I was in Galveston checking out the NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft at Scholes International Airport.  This of course means I was right next to one of my favorite places in the whole world:  Moody Gardens.  Palm Beach is a favorite for my family and I had been told that it was under going an upgrade.  I asked my friends at Moody Gardens if I could take peek at the new stuff.  Here are some pics of the new play structure they are building.

The new addition will feature climb-on platforms, spray pipes, pouring buckets, water blasters and a 25ft Hydro Storm tower that includes a 500-gallon water dump.  The new play structure is replacing the old submarine and octopus, but is larger with many more interactive water toys.  The new area will have a “zero-entry”.  That’s where the sides have a shallow sloping entrance, no steps.  I think that is great for the little ones.  I’m also told there will be 2 looping slides and kid controlled underwater fountains that squirt up from the ground.
The fun is set to begin May 3rd!

I thought this was an interesting study.  Apparently in PG films, if you use a lot of bad language, you will make less money at the box office.

So what does this say about our society?  Are we saying that violence is less important to us than a clean mouth?

Here are a few random thoughts on this year’s Houston Autoshow…

-I love the smell of a new car.

-Ford 500 is gone but the Taurus is back.

-Wow! There is a refrigerator in this armrest.  (Land Rover LR3)

-I’m a little disappointed in Mercedes-Benz.  I’m usually in awe of one of there cars and nothing really caught my attention this year.

-The Corvettes are great but I’m not fighting all the people around the car to sit in it.

-Who picked the dresses for all the Toyota Salesladies?

-Those Mini Coopers really do have a lot of room inside of them.

-Mini Cooper Clubman, ugly.

-The Jeep Hurricane… seems appropriate for a weatherman to drive.

-I’m not sitting in any Minivans this year.

-The Chrysler Imperial… big.

-The Pontiac G8: A Corvette engine in a 4-door sedan.  I think it was there but I missed it.  Wish I would have known to look for it.

-The most impressive car at the show… Lexus LS600h L.

-Lexus, Infinity, Mercedes, and BMW traditionally have fought for my favorite rating at the car shows.  This year’s best display goes to Lexus.

-Why is the Starbucks in Reliant Center so far from the Autoshow entrance?

I only took 2 pictures while I was there...

Anyone else have thoughts on this year's show?

What is your favorite candy to mix-in with ice cream?

I'll take a Heath Bar every time.

Vanilla, chocolate, coffee... works well in all flavors of ice cream.

The funny thing is that I won't eat one plain.  I only buy or eat them when it involves ice cream.

Is this the July 4th holiday weekend?  Or is it next weekend?

When are you celebrating this year?

We all know there is a lot more to Father’s Day then receiving presents.  But there is nothing wrong with enjoying a few monetary gifts.

I have two sons and got 4 gifts.  I don’t know mathematically how that works out, but I’m not complaining.

-New lawn care equipment!  Craftsman 12amp. Landscape Edger

-New CD (see music blogs for more details)

-Fun pack of Play-Doh.  Can’t say this was actually on my list but it was personally picked out by my boys and I will enjoy!

-Mrs. Baird’s Frosted Donuts.  In the “Grab N’ Go” bag of course.

How did everyone else do?

Promosapiens!

I had not seen or heard from them for a while, but I knew they could not hide for too long.  Dare I ask ... "why 19?"

My 1 ½ year-old son has learned how to take off his pants and I’m having trouble keeping him from doing it.  I’m afraid to take him out in public.  If he figures out his diaper, I’ll be in real trouble!
